From the September 18 Session Meeting:
The session met with the deacons for the first portion of the meeting and discussed the second letter to the congregation regarding women in the ministries of the church, sent out to the congregation on September 20. The discussion centers around the ministry of laity in the life of the church and in our worship. Click here to read the letter.
Received a report from the Strategic Commission on administrative areas of the church, including work on the vision/budget for 2019, setting the terms for the Strategic Commission membership with Mike McDonald and Darrell Stanley serving one-year terms and Chris Peterson and Dan Wilkerson serving two-year terms. In order to facilitate the work of one church with two congregations, a commission of four ruling elders and two teaching elders leads the session in overseeing strategic initiatives, personnel, finances, and policy and procedures.
The announcement of officer nominations for elder and deacon will be announced in October, with nominations received through the month of November.
A new policy for employee benefits was adopted.
In the shepherding portion of the meeting, the Session is extending Norval Sells a sabbatical until January 2019.
